Welcome to the town where Martin Luther taught as a university professor — and which became the dwelling place of progressive ideas and a new understanding of the gospel. The Schlosskirche with the door where the 95 theses were posted, and the tombs of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon, is right next door to our Festival center and is the site of our morning prayers.
Meditate on the altar painting in Stadtkirche, the location for evening prayers. Walk to the World’s first parsonage. And hear why even pharmacists can be important for the life of the church.
The Festival Center
The main location of the Festival is the Wittenberg Castle which, as you might have thought, is right next to the Castle church where Martin Luther posted the 95 thesis to the door of the castle church door. The Castle houses a modern student and youth hostel which was new opened after some major renovations in 2007. Those staying at the Castle will sleep in rooms with 2- 6 beds and eat breakfast in the dinning hall. Some of the interest Centers will gather in the meeting rooms there. In the evening the Luther Cellar is open, a historic vault with many original equipment from the Luther movie! Morning prayers will be offered in the Castle church where Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon are buried. Interest Centers are happening throughout the churches and museums of Wittenberg. And for the bigger concerts and services the Wittenberg Convention Center will be used. It’s all downtown, walking the original streets Martin Luther and the Reformers walked!
