Luther Quote of the Week

We are reluctant to put up with other people’s frailties and, instead, every one expects every one else to be perfect.

M.L. about Romans 15.1

The Luther500 Festival is an officially recognized event of the Luther-Decade.

Festival Pass

The Luther500 Festival is an international event. We expect participants from all over the world. They all have different currencies. We use the German currency - the Euro. At the bottom of this page you will find a currency converter which helps you to get an idea about the costs in your home currency.

Already now you can buy a PLACEHOLDER for just 10 Euro each. This reserves your place for the Festival, and PLACEHOLDER owners can register with a deposit and a rooming choice beginning on September 1, 2012. For more details about the Three Steps to the Festival see the “Register” page.

With the registration you can choose your housing option. Each Housing Option has the same Festival Pass included. This means: your Festival experience will always be the same. All accommodations are in the inner city of Wittenberg, in walking distance to the Festival venues like the Stadtkirche (Town Church), the Schlosskirche (Castle Church), the Lutherhaus Museum, and the Castle. Only the comfort of housing varies.

The Festival Pass  in addition to the housing for the week, includes:

  • Admission to all Festival events, concerts, Interest Centers, and admission fees to museums
  • Meals:  breakfast and dinner every day, and lunch boxes on day excursions
  • Two one-day excursions including motor coach, local guides, admissions
  • Various servant-event options
  • Program book and backpack/shoulder bag
  • Shuttle to and from the Berlin Airport (BER to open 2012)
  • Health Insurance, covering all necessary medicine, doctors, hospital and any emergency transport

The registration price for the Festival varies with the housing choice.

  • Backpacker: Bring your mattress and sleeping bag, and stay in a church fellowship hall or school gymnasium. Sleeping rooms separated by genders. Shared bathrooms.

625 Euro per person, Festival Pass included

  • Hostel: This is the converted section of the Castle, in the manner of a conference center with single and bunk beds (two to six in each room) and showers in room. Rooms are separated by genders.

750 Euro per person in a multiple bed room, Festival Pass included

Double and single rooms in the Hostel are only available for group leaders accompanying participants who are staying in multiple-bed rooms:
780 Euro per group leader in a room with double occupancy, Festival Pass included
820 Euro per group leader in a room with single occupancy, Festival Pass included

  • Hotel: 3- 4 star hotels with all amenities you can expect from a hotel. Please note: Regulations governing hotels in Germany are a bit different from the customs at some U.S. gatherings.  In Germany, each participant has to have a bed. This means: Only 2 persons in a two-single-bed room, only 1 person in a single-bed room.  What Americans would think of as a “double” or “queen” or “king” bed to accommodate a couple, would be thought of as “two beds” in the german hotel.  And a single bed is sort of like a “twin.” So, of course, two people can stay in one room, which is often the case with married couples for instance. What the regulations do not permit is four people in a room with two beds.  Email us if you have specific questions about the hotels.

880 Euro per person in a room with double occupancy, Festival Pass included

1,010 Euro per person in a room with single occupancy, Festival Pass included

  • KinderPass  This is a Festival Pass for kids aged 5 - 11 who are staying with their parents as part of a family group.  While most of the costs are the same for kids as they are for adults — seats on the motor coach for day trips, airport shuttles, admissions, and so forth — we’d like to provide a price break for families bringing kids.

425 Euro per person  ages 5 - 11 staying in room with parent.  A Festival Pass for a child under five attending with a parent is free.

To convert the costs into your currency just type the Festival Price (Euro) into the field “I have” (better: “I need to have…”) and select your currency at “I want”.

Additional options

The Festival Pass covers the Festival experience. There are only very few additional options with additional costs:

Rent a bicycle and be even more flexible and faster in the City of Wittenberg: 80 Euro for 7 days

Canoe trip: Guided Canoe trips will be offered as one of many other sport options. While other sport options are included in the Festival price, the Canoe trip costs 20 Euro per person extra.

“After Show Party” Sunday evening: After the official end of the Festival (and only if you are not going on a Post Festival Trip) a steamer cruise on the Elbe brings you in contact with the bands and presenters. Cost is 18 Euro and includes one beverage.

All additional options can be booked with your registration.

Become a group leader and register as a group!

Each twelve registrations in your group earn you one free registration, that is, Festival Pass. So, if you register 12, the thirteenth person gets a free Festival registration. If you register 24, you will get two free.

As a group leader we will also invite you for free into the Festival’s Leader Lounge where you can have a coffee and relax inmidst of the Festival. We will give you speed access to the buffet in the food court, and treat you well with a few more benefits.

Special rates are available for kinder under 12 with a family.  See KinderPass, above.
